The Guard pays well. But for soldiers with skills and experience, we pay even better, with incentives up to thousands of extra dollars. 

NON-PRIOR SERVICE – UP to $20,000 

Certain high-demand jobs and critical specialties pay you a bonus up to $20,000 when you enlist in the Army National Guard for the first time. Bonuses require a six-year enlistment. Your recruiter will have all the details.

OFF-PEAK SHIPPING BONUS – $7,500

New Soldiers that can ship to Basic Combat Training between October and May may be eligible for this bonus.

Prior Service Soldiers – Up to $20,000

For soldiers who have been honorably separated from the military you may be eligible for a bonus if you are in pay grade E-3 through E-7. Applicants must have less than 16 years of prior military service. Bonuses require either a three-year or six-year enlistment. All periods of prior service must be characterized as Honorable.

ACTIVE ARMY AFFILIATION – $5,000 to $20,000

The Enlisted Affiliation Bonus is offered to current enlisted Active Army Soldiers who affiliate directly into a critical skill vacancy in the Army National Guard. 

Current Army National Guard Soldiers – $5,000 TO $20,000

Soldiers who extend or re-enlist may be eligible for a bonus. Bonus amounts are for a two-year, four-year or six-year extension. Soldiers must meet Time in Serve/Time in Grade requirements and other criteria to be eligible.

Officer / Warrant Officer – $10,000 or $20,000

Bonuses for officers and warrant officers are offered to help mitigate a shortage or projected shortage in identified specialties.

2-113th infantry

The 2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry makes its headquarters in Riverdale. Units are located in Newark, Jersey City, and Woodbridge. The unit’s mission is to deploy, fight, and defeat enemy forces. On the unit insignia the white saltire cross commemorates the service of the old regiment in the Civil War and the silver oak tree the service in World War I (Argonne Forest).
