Medical Specialist Corps
Physician Assistants are commissioned as Medical Specialist Corps officers with the Army Medical Department (AMEDD). In the absence of a physician, the PA is the primary source of advice to determine the medical necessity, priority, and requirements for patient evacuation and initial emergency care and stabilization. PAs plan, organize, perform, and supervise medical care at Levels I and II.
