New Jersey Army National Guard SGT Linette Rivera Rodriguez, 2011 Rowan University Alumna, accepted the Distinguished Young Alumna Award at Convocation. SGT Rodriguez is a combat engineer assigned to the 104th Brigade Engineer Battalion.

Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA)
The Federal Tuition Assistance Program provides financial assistance to Army National Guard Soldiers in support of their professional and personal self development goals. Army National Guard Soldiers are eligible for this benefit after successfully completing one year of service following graduation from either Advanced Individual Training (AIT), Officer Candidate School (OCS), or Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC). New Jersey Army National Guard soldiers that are attending private New Jersey colleges or out-of-state colleges should take full advantage of this benefit.

Benefit overview:
  • Soldiers may take up to 16 semester hours (SH) per fiscal year at the rate of $250/SH each year
  • Courses can be taken in classroom or via distance learning
  • For use at colleges and trade schools

Soldiers can also attend certificate and licensure programs from non-degree granting trade schools. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Art and Photography
  • Aviation Maintenance
  • Computer, Major Appliance & HVAC Maintenance
  • Cosmetology, Hairstyling, Esthetics and Barbering
  • Culinary Arts
  • Industrial Technology
  • Language
  • Massage Therapy
  • Medical or Business Certificates
  • Real Estate Licensure Programs
  • Truck Driving (Commercial Driver's License preparation courses)
